Hawaii's Ala Moana Shopping Center the largest open air shopping mall in the world.
When in Honolulu, scratch your shopping itch at Ala Moana Shopping Center.
Ala Moana Shopping Center was the biggest shopping center in the entire country before the Mall of America opened in Minnesota. Today, Ala Moana still holds the title for the world’s largest open-air shopping center and is described as “a shopper’s paradise in paradise.”With over 290 stores and restaurants, there is a lot to see, do, and buy at Ala Moana shopping center. You’ll find a lot of traditional American shopping options as well as a bunch of stores and items that are uniquely Hawaiian. (For example, I bet your local Macy’s doesn’t have a great selection of aloha shirts and muʻumuʻus!)
On Saturdays from 8am to noon, you can catch the farmers market, full of fresh Hawaii produce, gorgeous tropical flowers, handmade jewelry and crafts, etc. Don’t miss the mall’s Centerstage, which regularly features live music, hula shows, and other kinds of entertainment – in total, they host over 500 acts a year!
Even if you aren’t a shopaholic, you’ll still enjoy an hour or two at Ala Moana shopping center. Stop by to pick up a few souvenirs for family and friends back home, take a peek at the tranquil koi ponds, take in a show on Centerstage, and then head on over one of the bars or restaurants to take advantage of happy hour specials.
And if you are a shopaholic, you’ll love all the stores, sales, and deals. Ala Moana shopping center has everything from Gap to Chanel, Aldo to Jimmy Choo. There is something for everyone.
The food court at Ala moana is insane so many ethnic choices to choose from and there are still more restaurants all over the center to eat at, you can literally get there in the morning and have breakfast at one end of the mall then do your am shopping then break for some lunch in the middle of the mall then back to do your pm shopping after that then stop for dinner at the far end of the mall
